HEIC → JPG is available in its dedicated tab. TIFF, RAW, CR2 and true raster-to-vector PNG → SVG need specialized codecs/vector tracing and are intentionally not faked. PNG → SVG as a simple embedded-image wrapper is not presented as a true vector conversion.
JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, SVG, BMP and supported AVIF conversions use browser image decoding/canvas encoding. If a requested canvas format is unsupported, browsers can fall back to PNG, so this tool checks the resulting MIME type before offering a download. citeturn0search0turn0search2
| Format | Compression | Transparency | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| JPG | Lossy | No | Photos, email, general sharing |
| PNG | Lossless | Yes | Logos, screenshots, graphics |
| WebP | Lossy or lossless | Yes | Websites and faster page speed |
| HEIC | Lossy | Yes | Storing photos on Apple devices |
| Varies | Varies | Documents, printing, sharing |
Lossy compression removes some data to shrink the file. Lossless compression keeps every pixel intact, but files are usually larger.

Which Image Format Should You Choose?
- Use JPG for photographs where small file size matters more than perfect detail
- Use PNG when you need transparency or sharp edges, such as logos and icons
- Use WebP for website images, since smaller files help page speed and SEO
- Use PDF when you need to share, print, or submit an image as a document
